Early Life
Zendaya is the daughter of Kazembe Ajamu Coleman, who has Nigerian, Macedonian, and Icelandic heritage, and Claire Stoermer, who is of German and Scottish lineage. Both of her parents were educators. Zendaya is the youngest among six siblings. She attended Fruitvale Elementary School and became involved in the performing arts at an early age, joining a hip-hop dance group called Future Shock Oakland when she was eight, and later learning hula at the Academy of Hawaiian Arts. Her mother served as a house manager at the California Shakespeare Theater, where Zendaya also performed.
